Order sock wool online - knitting socks is the trend!

Buy sock wool and get started? Of course you can - knitted socks are totally on trend. On social media, we see socks with pom-poms in the cold season, cozy and warm for enjoying the after-work hours on the sofa. In other corners of the social media world, knitted colorful socks are combined with a pair of plain jeans.

Buying sock wool can also be so really heartwarming....

One of the most emotional sock knitting projects are baby socks made of wool. Self-knitted baby socks made of soft sock wool make a great welcome gift for the expectant mom, dad, grandma or grandpa. Also as a gift for the birth or as a leisure activity in preparation for the birth of your little treasure, self-knitted baby socks are a great idea. Set for soft sock wool from natural fiber, for example, from alpaca baby wool or merino wool. Both alpaca wool and merino wool from merino sheep are very popular materials for knitting socks.

Buying sock wool: what properties should sock wool have?

If you want to buy sock wool, think beforehand about what your socks "should be able to do". Sock wool should be thermally insulating and soft for the colder seasons. This is the case, for example, with merino wool as sock wool. Merino wool stores up to four times more heat than conventional wool and thus keeps your feet cozy and warm even in a thinner knitted sock, even when it gets freezing cold outside. At the same time, merino wool is known for not scratching and yet absorbing sweat well.

This makes merino wool socks a reliable companion for cold days with maximum comfort. Alpaca wool as sock wool is also very popular. If you want the socks to be very soft, we recommend baby alpaca wool.

Learn to knit socks - how does it work?

How does sock knitting actually work? What is the difference between crochet socks? If you, as a beginner, are also asking yourself these questions - here comes the answer! The origin of knitting is not so clear. Researchers argue about finds from the 1920s and finds that are much older and theoretically could also be considered knitwear.

In knitting, you make your socks from a continuous thread. To do this, you use two or more knitting needles as a needle set, pointed at the front. With them, you string the stitches together and wrap them around, resulting in a certain knitting pattern, depending on the technique.

The difference between crochet and knitting lies mainly in the needle used.

Because when crocheting you actually use only one crochet hook, which has a hook at the tip. With this crochet hook, you make close-meshed linking as part of sock crochet. Crochet makes the socks much more robust than knitted socks.

Washing and caring for wool socks - this is how it's done!

Everyone knows it: wool and wash? That can turn out messy if handled incorrectly! Wool is usually rather sensitive to washing, especially at too high temperatures. It can happen that the wool socks come out curly and small after a too hot wash cycle. Therefore, we recommend that you let your wool socks air out in the fresh air and rely on the often self-cleaning properties of wool.

However, if you can't avoid the wash cycle, it's best to use our wool detergent specially designed for sock wool. A hand wash in the sink with up to a maximum of 30 degrees warm water is the first choice here.

A wash in the washing machine in the wool washing program is also possible at a maximum of 30 degrees, but should rather remain the individual case with particularly sensitive wool.
